Stretching Myself

I’ve been trying to surpass my previous range and it occurs to me. Before I get too far along. I need to stretch myself. In preparation for the direction I’m headed, the place I want to go. I need to make some preparations before the journey to be prepared for the journey and for the destination.

This applies to the natural and spiritual me. Why we all need exercise, I especially at this stage, but mental (spiritual) exercise is needed as well. Perhaps even more so to maintain the balance and as a foundation to go beyond. We have to look to our well-being. I have to pay attention to some details that perhaps I’ve been a little loose with. I have to rearrange some blocks (of time) and be more careful (about situations) where we (I) can get drawn more deeply into other people’s maintenance. At the cost of my own and with little return.

This doesn’t mean, I’m not saying, don’t help others. Actually I’m saying the opposite. Help others by helping yourself. Go back to the well often. The more you want to give the more you need. The more you need the more often (you need) to go back to the source. The more you need to pursue stretching. Immersing yourself in the exercises that profit well-being. Push past the tired and reach for the goal.

I guess what I’m saying in today’s words. When you feel the most spent. When you are the most spent. When you’re too tired to go on… take a moment for a brief encounter with God’s word before you rest. Read a passage or two to renew your faith and build your strength. To stretch yourself so you don’t pull a muscle. We know before physical exertion to be prepared, but what about after? The cooldown? It’s as important as the first step in growing and developing – stretching yourself (myself) into the beyond.
